Have a traction unit modernized in 2011. Intermittent shut downs. Got to the unit today, customer left power on, thankfully! They usually shut it off. Had motor protection timer expired fault. Same fault, I have found in fault log previously. Called EC, they asked what the LSSM board was indicating, had safety tripped and lev/insp. LEDs lit. Was instructed to flip tab on ST relay up to prevent it from dropping. Watched unit run for 2 hours, noticed that up leveling was at 8 seconds and down leveling was 4 seconds. Called EC and they said that the LSSM board is "tracking" leveling speeds and trying to match up and down. They told me to let it run for a few days with the ST relay forced into picked position. They said that the difference in leveling times is most likely the cause of this relay dropping, causing the ANSI motor prot. Timer fault. EC says it is easy to adjust, "balance" this monitoring board. His anyone done this? Is it really easy....have b even burned by EC in the past.
