this is the message of an mph2 car when you access the tool and look under status of the car. I have seen this once before, a few years back, not sure if it indicates that the oil was to hot, although i dont see a input for hot oil, only cold oil. maybe it indicates that the cold oil input was on to long, any ideas.

It does mean it's hot but, it's looking at the K55 signal. Look at the K55 LED signal on the prints.

Hey Scott,
A friend of mine just sent me this..................
I have seen this message a couple times and each time it was an intermittent failure of the three phase power monitor. Thought if you happen to get on the site you might let him know this could be the problem.

boy, i must be getting old, thanks guys, now i remember the previous post. So if the car gets a signal to run up, and the input to k55 fails, then the tool will display whew its hot. I guess the programmers for the controller would think that the motor thermal overload was the likely suspect, since it opening up would cause no k55 and the thought being that it opened due to hi oil temperature. any way we have jumped the thermal, disconnected cold oil input and will wait for the result. also there is a phase reversal contact in some of the prints i have looked at, but not on this unit as it has a solid state starter. One thing i am having trouble understanding is the TH thermal overload on the print. we have a bimetallic thermal on our unit with no TH relay. I cannot make out what the TH relay is accomplishing. Its coil leads are connected directly to the 24volt power supply, and then there is a TH contact from the motor. thats all i can find with this circuit,
Who knows how this works, cant find any info in any manuals.

I've seen the TH relay but have never read about it. I always figured that the component on the end of the wires in the tank would change resistance (or a value of some sort) with temperature changes and pick or drop the TH relay. It's been a while since I worked on a unit with a TH relay, it seems I remember seeing them more on MPH I's.

Who knows how this works, cant find any info in any manuals. Scott, the bi- metal strip type thermal(generally) as far as i know is fitted where you want to measure the temp. Then the contact is the onboard relay contact that can either drive an external relay and associated ccts or directly drive a particular cct. Either way i wouldn't over think it, it either trips a run or it doesn't.

On the mph 1 it closes contact 11/14 to feed the contactor coil which also feeds ds38 which it needs to make a run or it woll shutdown with a temp fault

well we jumped out the motor thermal circuit, and disconnected the oil heating circuit, and the car has been running fine. My partner wants to connect one or the other to determine what was causing the problem. I told him to leave well enough alone. Hell we are in california, there are thousands of hydros with no oil heating circuits, and even more without motor thermal circuits if the car boils the oil, i will let you all know ha ha
