Just wondering where the proper spot to adjust door torque on a dover composite 1981 was the year of install its a traction with selector mounted above controler.... the door operator is the vintage before the HD operator prety much like mini HD oprator any way i have serveral on my rout sorry i don't know model numbers of equipment very well:-) .... any way i was doing yearley inspect with inspector and doozr torque. Was high (33)ft.p. the inspector said its the center tap (CT) band on the resisitor inthe door operator in this case the resistor was mounted in the swing panel in the car.well looking at resisitor i said if i move the center tap it was going to change the resistance value for the open as well so i was wondering is this a quick fix method or the proper spot to adjust door torque. And by moving that tap it seems that maybe while decreasing the torque for close it would be increasing it in the open.but not that it would hurt anything i guess maybe a lil faster in the open or more wear and tear. I usually check the torque when the door is about 1/3 from being closed. You will decrease the close speed and torque at the same time if you adjust the resistor-thats not really an issue unless you have crappy hall doors. This one probably has an OHST timer in the controler, this will help when you increase the open speed-its sort of like PL microswitch on a MAC-it delays your open high speed for the start of the open. You may have to tighten up your spirators when you adjust the close torque.

Just adjust the tap on resistor R3 to slow the door down in the close only, there are two taps on r3 one for open and one for close basic speed.this would be one way to lower the speed, and possibly the torque you would have to measure the torque when both of the slow down switches are open. If you cant get the torque lower this way then Look on the door print you will see a jumper from terminal DA2 to A if this jumper is in place then you can adjust the band on the slowdown resistor to adjust torque, although you may have to adjust the entire close section of the door after adjusting this band.
