I just got a 400A on my route and received a call today. Upon my arrival, I found car #2 down [a duplex] when i opened the controller,everything was flashing,leds, display screen. what would cause this ? Would be grateful for any help.

Did your company provide any technical support when they acquired the job?
My opinion is if a company gets a unit without any books or support,it is not your problem if you are unfamiliar with the equipment.

Did a reset return it to service?What did the display screen say,if anything.

Thanks for your help. When I power up the unit the display screen flashes every two to three seconds, so there is no time for it to show a display.Everything in the controller cycles every two to three seconds.

Check the power supply feeding it...

I checked the incoming power and all legs were within a few volts of each other [480]. I checked all fuses, and they were good. This is a duplex system and I'm concern with the power pulsing,it might affect the other car.

I'm just going to guess, but it sounds like the power supply that feeds the 24 and 5
VDC is going bad. I've seen this before on many solid state units, and if the power rectification is done on the board itself, you will need an entire new ASILOG board. I cannot recall off of the top of my head whether the power supply is internal to the board or external.

One other note-hopefully it is the ASILOG board that is bad and it hasn't affected the GCIO360, which is where all of the parameters are stored...

I do remember when Schindler switched from the 321A to the 330A, they moved the power supply off of the board. You used to have the three phase power going into the lower left on the CRIPHNA and being rectified and reduced right there. While the circuitry more or less remained when they altered the print architecture to the newer design, they began using a separate Siemens power supply and just plugging the power supply with 24 VDC. As the 400A is based off of the upgraded architecture, it most likely has this 'off-site' 24VDC supply. I think, however, the 5 VDC supply is still generated 'on-site'. Unfortunately, if the 24 VDC supply checks out, you will still need a new ASILOG. I would also simply reseat the GCIO360 board and all connectors prior to changing anything out.
