I know Schindler had a problem with the reliability of the safety brake mechanism, which contains a solenoid and also the monitoring contacts. Is it possible that the cord coming out of the safety brake is rubbing on a chain?

While performing a handrail replacement on a 9300, I found 2 wiring bundles that were slowly wearing on the step chain and, were it not found, would have caused a problem shortly.

You didn,t specify if it was a SWE or Swu..model..when I worked on those in the past the location of the Starting Station was mounted in the incline decking..yes while remove decking to work on the handrail drive system..the wiring for this has a tendency to drop down and rub against the moving stepchain..this has been a problem from day one wiring gets broken and even shorted out.this is also followed by a 41 fault which is a dead giveaway direction failure which will drop the emergency Brake..Oh how i miss working on that stuff...

I'm pretty sure the SWU's and SWE's are their own breed. The next Schindler stairs were the 9300's. Totally different control, drives are very similar.
