With car on inspection running up or down the hoist motor runs with brake droped after letting off of the up or down button the brake is dropping at the right time the run relay seems to be taking a long time to drop out I Have been on the phone with elevator controls for hours they keep telling me to different boards to replace

never really worked on this type of controller but it sounds like you may have a relay hanging in with either residual magnetism or hanging in mechanically. It may be worth working them with the power off by hand to see if you can feel a hesitation in the drop out.

during a normal run the elevator stops electrically and then sets the brake, during an inspection run you just dump everything at ounce. on some control units there are timers in the circuitry so you drop the circuits in sequence on inspection. this of course assumes your brake is adjusted to hold a full load plus 25%.

I have seen this when working with kone cranes vf's(cranepro in the US) where a button release on long travel would ramp down your s curve to a stop but it should never be, on maintenance on the lift. The common button was also supposed to be a N/O in the safety cct yet now it seems to be a series cct within the direction cct. It would then drop the safety link to the drive and stop the lift dead.
