...I have not heard that one, but they are definitely good at letting you know how many days off you need to take off mandatory before the end of the year.. regardless and rest assured when you are off..no one is covering your route..

Is management giving up 1/40th of their income a week to support the company as well?

Management does give up something. Their soul, their dignity etc etc....Thats why independents are cleaning up. If we aren't careful this is whats gonna kill the "union" its so easy to walk into a m/r and say look you havent been serviced in 3 mos.

Seems like managers these days know nothing about elevators, they are nothing more than pencil pushers looking for the next bonus before they jump ship.

I am curious about this issue. How do building managers and owners feel about the Otis Elite Service initiative? How does this initiative improve elevator/escalator operation?

Out of sight. Out of mind!

This is my observation!
It's only when there is a problem do they (The building owners & managers) notice...

I have been out of the industry for sometime, but in talking to recent retirees they are saying that all companies practice "shutdown" maintenance with no regard to preventative measures. That maintenance is no where near what it was 10-15 years ago. Is this generally true?

alex, what we have been doing is maintenance on callbacks no matter what route you are on, it is the only way we can keep each other off the radar so we don't get the phone call at the end of the of each cycle "YOU DIDN'T GET YOUR VISIT IN, YOUR NUMBERS ARE LOW...."
so yes to answer your question shutdown/callback maintenance is the new norm.
as far as ELITE, i have been set up for "customer training" 2 times in the last year, both time was cancelled due to no one to cover?(FYI i have no idea what customer training is for ELITE) all in all i think it is a good idea but we have no way to tell what they are resetting or how often, sometimes i will get a call but how many times has it been reset and i have not been told about it?????
