Every town is different as far as the quality of the service provider. Some times its the big OEMs sometimes the mom and pop shop. And if you have been happy with the service provider that is fine and should but some points on their side as you consider all your options. As the operations manager of an independent company we will consistently be the highest price on bid day and we consistently land the biggest mod jobs in town, Why?? Quality Quality Quality. A lot of time has been spent on this thread talking about controllers. And points should be given on their pros and cons also. But of all mentioned you noticed no one has said this one or that one is apiece of crap!!! Because they all are good controller with their good and bad points. (we take care of a lot of all units mentioned) So remember a full 75% of calls are door related !!! So who is telling you they are rebuilding, replacing or just the good old replace as needed>>>> You are taking the time to research so talk to people just like you who have laid down their $100s of thousands and ask them if they are happy. Did the job go as promised. Did their calls go up or down. You have 28 years with one company what do your call backs look like. And are your bids addressing those problems.

controllers...in my opinion Otis and ThyssenKrupp have the best equipment on the market. Kone is a waste of money.

word on the street is that MCE and GAL are putting 10 year caps on there controller components?

I work for an independent company that puts in a lot of Galaxy and MCE stuff along with Swift. Yes it is non propitiatory with is nice. I however,will be the first to admit that Otis puts in a very good product. It really comes down to the quality of the components they use since everyone seems to have the same technology. That being said if you can get a unit that gives you the service tool I would go with them. I am a field adjuster with 32 years in the business. I wouldn't touch Kone with a 10 ft pole.
