When replacing hand rails on a Schindler 9300 with glass balustrades how difficult is it to do with a endless handrail as opposed to splicing? It seems like the splicing can go fairly quick, but it is exspensive as it takes a specalist to pefrom the vulcanization.
I'm just wondering if anyone has done one with endless handrails and how bad is it really to do?
not bad at all, pull decking off, Mark everything , take off top skirt , Mark everything, take off inlets, take off drive wheel,pull off handrail and install new handrail,reinstall everything to marks. hope this helps.
If you have to change the handrail drive belt look for the service axles that can be pulled out, I believe they have a 8mm screw holding them in. Service axles are usually placed together. Pull 5 steps on top and 5 steps below so you can fit in there to change the belt. Also may wanna clean the handrail drive belt sheaves. Problem with someone splicing is that you don't see the damage to the other parts so you may be replacing the handrail again soon . Clean or replace the turn around cluster rollers as well.
Yes as stated before is very laid out and methodical, allow yourself a day. Some of the newer units use a set of cluster rollers instead of a belt to maintain tension against the drive sheave, so pulling a step or two to release the tension will make life easier when trying to thread the bolts back into the drive sheave.
