Re: Is this a Westinghouse Duplex ERL controller?
elmcannic

Yeah I’m suspect myself, but he does say in his bio he’d like to work for (I think he said-) KONE one day. So all light flaming aside he’s got an interest in our trade and just maybe one day his dream will come true. Notice he hasn’t been back. Sometimes we just don’t know the motives behind some obscure post searching for answers and I concur on this that it’s not an IUEC mechanic, helper etc, but rather a visitor looking to scratch that itch. In any event, we’re careful what to divulge in an open forum, but to direct someone to find answers which puts them in a position to truly search to discover nothing technical, is ok. We’ve had those types here before like building owners looking for advice good or bad, or what can I do to get past my problem which we know the answer to that. (Usually they’ll get rebuffed and sent on their way).

Re: How can I fix this issue with a 1964 Westinghouse?

Instagram and you tube huh? Sure enough. Well, got me on that one. I hope your interests and passions with “elevators” will lead you to actually join the pursuit of hundreds of young men and women who’d love to gain membership to one of the, if not thee best union trades in the construction service repair world…an IUEC member.

What values for initial installation? Maybe you shouldn't go bragging on "substack" about how AI fixed your elevator. Everyone i know can't fn stand this ai data center crap. There is a certain adjustment process between normal and test modes in a certain time to permanently save adjustments made to the processor. I would call a reputable elevator company than solder components google recommend.

Re: Concord 8000 772048 Board Repair Success
John Dyer

Oops!
My Concord Series 8000 Pro Lift Elevator was failing to decelerate during descent. Troubleshooting indicated a fault in the 772048 (mod 772041) proportional control valve. A 470 mf radial electrolytic capacitor was swapped with Mouser # 647UPW1H471MHD, Mfr. #: UPW1H471MHD Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor Radial 50volts 470uF AECQ200 A Sipex 805LCP integrated circuit was swapped with Mouser # 700MAX805LCPA Mfr. #: MAX805LCPA+ Microprocessor Supervisory Circuit A CSI 93C57P integrated circuit was swapped with Mouser # 57993AA56/P Mfr. #: 93AA56/P EEPROM 256x8128x16 1.8V The elevator now decelerates on descent, and operates normally … however … The control board no longer stores modifications to function parameters. It loads factory defaults. According to documentation, the values are correct for initial installation. I can live with it for the time being. But I’d like to fix it the right way. Who can tell me what happened? I’m guessing one or both IC is not an exact replacement.

Re: Tac32t green drive

Hey not to try an hijack this thread, but I had to go out to a tac32t that I guess was faulting out on a fault that said the car was slipping through the brake so I brought 125% load out to do a brake test. They are fairly new cars and just came off the original contract with tk and they already had to do a drive in one or two of the 3 cars. Brake test went fine and that wasn't the issue, but I did notice a 200fpm car with full load only would go 98-99fpm in the up and 200 in the down. Is that normal for those cars

Re: Urgent need Oildraulic prints

If any one comes across prints for old Dover hydro 2 slot would be great seems there wasn’t very many of them install Two slot? You mean two card? Logic and power? That would be a 3 slot system. DM me your email and I will send you a copy for a 2 stop 3 lot set up. Or clarify what you mean as I never heard of 2 slot.

Re: Ranking and Work
CinciElevator
05/21/26 03:55 PM
When I did my test/interview it was done, I tested in Florida and wanted to work asap and found that Ohio at the time was looking for labor so I hopped on up north. I’m not sure if the union still allows it but I don’t see what the problem would be, if a local needs labor and there isn’t any apprentices on the bench they should be able to hire a probationary as long as whatever local it is doesn’t have a wait list. Good luck to you and stick to it. If your motivated and know elevator work is what you want, don’t give up. Better yourself with night classes and make it so next time your number 1 on that list. Call around, make some noise!

Re: Lang Lay Ropes or Regular Lay?
tayto

I would get an engineer to preform a traction calculation. You will most likely need to weigh the cars & cwts to do this properly. At Otis Lang lay was only used on sheaves with liners. I have seen lots of units over the years where Lang lay was used but not spec'd. The only reason to use Lang lay is for more traction but seems like a bandaid fix. Lang lay will wear sheaves much faster than regular lay. I would try obtaining the original layouts from TK. possible the customer or AHJ might have them as well.
