I got an Otis GTS, after clearing an entrapment between floors. My 2nd and 3rd floor lost voltage. It’s a 10 story building. Elevator only moves on hoist way door bypass. I lose safeties and doors when I take it out. My TDS and BDS have 120VAC. And FDS pin 3( plug p28) has 120 but nothing on pin 4. I kill power and check continuity on 2nd floor door locks and got nothing. I’m thinking it’s a broker wire but it’s like 200 ft of wire up to the controller. Any workaround? I was thinking of jumping that door lock just to see if I get my safe 1 and safe 2 and GDS input on high and remove the jumper.

I would put it on inspection in the controller, jump that intermediate lock circuit to verify its the intermediate locks. REMOVE the jumper then put on just hoistway door bypass, not car door bypass. Then go get on top on inspection and run the shaft to find your problem. Find out which order they wired the intermediate locks in, in other words if 2 doesn't have power, does 3 or 1? If 3 doesn't go up to 4. Etc. Depending on if the controller backfeeds both sides of the intermediate lock circuit when it's on hoistway bypass, you may need a helper you can put in the machine room so you can run to each lock on the cartop, then radio him to take it off bypass so you can check things, then put it back on so you can run to the next floor.

Most likely since it's your intermediate locks worst case you'll have to pull a new wire between 2 floors. Or it could just be a lock/contact.

No workaround really. Once you find it you gotta do what you gotta do.

But at least its not an outdoor rack and pinion car at a PowerPlant with the wind blowing and it's 10 degrees outside and you gotta pull new lock wires leaning over the side of the car because the water in the liquid tight conduit turned to ice and broke the wires in half.

Just did exactly what you described but with my supervisor. That job sounds like it came from the gates of hell itself. Thanks for the help.

Pulled in a new wire feeding from the next floor we had 120V on. Which resulted to be 4th floor. The intermediate door locks are wired from the 2nd floor door locks. And moved on that order 4th to 3rd to 2nd. I accidentally had it power both contact poles and it still moved on inspection with doors opened as if the whole door lock circuit was jumped out. Corrected and re-wired and now it won’t run on inspection with doors open like it’s supposed to. But now the issue is that it will run to every floor and open and close doors but will stay stuck with doors open on the 2nd floor and 4th floor. I’m guessing I have to remove that wiring and find the original open wire and trace it back to the controller and feed it from there. It’s grunt work but that was how it was advised

Man, there’s just 1 single point where that circuit is open. Just a big series circuit. Sometimes the trick, if the way you’re bypassing the circuit to run backfeeds from the other direction, is to pull one end of the field wire. At some door lock you’ll have voltage and the next you won’t. 99 times out of 100 it’s something in one of the interlock boxes but in the 1 case that it isn’t, the most you could have to do is pull 1 length of wire from one floor to another to bypass an open you can’t see. I’m afraid you were advised poorly.

Yeah, your over thinking this. It's just a series circuit with a break somewhere. Just find the bad lock part or wire and replace it. And most certainly remove any jumpers or extra wires you ran... the issue is most likely in a Door lock or a wire inbetween floors locks. This is why I said it'd be easier to pinpoint with help so the jumper or bypass switch can be taken off so it's not backfeeding both sides of the lock circuit

Poorly indeed. Your 99 ratio was correct.

I found a mouse jamed up in a gal interlock box once, wasn't getting my door circuit. Boy did I jump back when I saw that thing in there.
