I'm trying to troubleshoot a 30 year old lift that has a GMV5000 valve body. I understand this is no longer available, and the general recommendation is that it needs replaced, which involves replacing the controller as well. That's out of their budget. We've replaced the seals that we can do, but the lift constantly settles down. Disconnecting the lift from the valve, the lift stays in place, so it isn't the cylinder. The only thing we are unable to fully test is the solenoid valve for lowering.

Is anyone familiar with these, and have any ideas to try?

You need to replace the two down valve seats/pilots. Easy to do on a Blain or maxton. I'm not sure on the gmv about parts availability

Why not just replace the valve with a maxton? What controller is it? If it's a Montgomery you can usually change a dip switch on one of the boards or get a software chip to update it to work with a maxton

Or you could use a Blaine KV 1P

Have you ever replaced a GMV5000 with the Blain KV1P?

The GMV 5000 hasn't had parts available for 15+ years now.
We always replace with a blain, you need to drill new holes in the plate but not a bad retro fit. The kV1P is the easiest change out, but the ev100-3/4 is another option.

The GMV had an UP coil. KV1P doesn’t. How did you resolve that?

For me this was a while ago and I don't really remember.. and I just looked up the kv1p i referenced above and that did not look like the valve we used.. so I must have said the wrong valve. I know it was a slow car but don't remember much else. But I am almost positive it was a 3 coil blain valve... It could have been an ev10. Thers is a 3 coil version of that that has up and down leveling speed and also high speed up to 200fpm.

Lav8rMEn depending on controller, you would just eliminate the up coil wiring if you use the KV1P, when the motor starts up it just pushed thru the valve. OR use the ev-100 and wire both up coils to where the up coil is now landed. The KV2S is the 3 coil valve, but it's hard to find in-stock in the US. EMI Porta use to have them but they have really gone downhill since the take over by Hypercon. The EV-10 is a 4 coil valve as well, just low flow.
