When replacing a governor rope I had a car keep tripping the ADON with a UIM. I was unable to find a parameter to disable this or a way to put the car on inspection to prevent this nuisance trips. Is there a way to turn this off for future reference / put the car into construction mode? Thanks!

The cleanest and fastest way to stop the trips without losing your ADON learn is to physically disconnect the encoder's communication while you pull the rope. 1. Put the Car on Inspection: Place the controller on Machine Room Inspection (RDF / 270 switch down). 2. Power Down: Kill the main power to the controller. 3. Unplug the Encoder: Locate the ADON board and simply unplug the encoder connector (this is typically found at the XCT1 or XCT2 terminals, depending on your exact board revision). 4. Complete the Roping: Power the controller back up. You can now pull the new governor rope over the sheave. The sheave will spin, but because the ADON board is blind to the pulses, it won't trigger the UIM trip. 5. Restore: Once the rope is swapped and tensioned, kill the power one last time, plug the encoder back into the ADON board, and restore power.
While it might be tempting to change this parameter to "blind" the ADON board, do not change Parameter 5-21. Any changes made to the 5-series parameters (specifically 5-9, 5-10, and 5-21) will instantly wipe the ADON board's memory. If you change it, you will be forced to perform a complete ADON learn (shaft setup) from scratch once the new rope is on.

Thanks for the response, however the building in question is 50 landings so its not ideal situation to pull/drop the rope without the aid of a moving car

Are these walk in pits? If so bring the car down as low as it will go, kill the power, loosen the glove rope guard, disconnect the gov rope from the car, have the new rope on spool stand, marry the new rope to the old rope and tape it up, then start feeding the rope up and over. As the old rope comes down feed it right into a tote. And wheel it out when you're done. Most of those kone cars I've done have like a lifting eye that the gov rope ties too and it's just one nut and the gov rope loop is free of the car. I've not don't 50 landings but I've done 35ish floors that way. It doesn't take anything thing to pull the rope that way cuz it's balanced on both sides. And you have the car above you as some protection if something went sideways. I've also done it that way without the walk in pit but instead ofa tote we use trash cans and pick them out of the pit with the car and a strap at the end.

There’s no walk in pit, but thats an alternative way to do it. I was thinking there was a simple solution to something that typically doesn’t shut a car down on inspection (that I’ve dealt with)

KCM 831 Construction Mode (ADON Bypass) Use this to move the car via RDF while the governor rope is removed or being replaced, preventing UIM trips. Enable Logic: Set Menu 1 > Parameter 99 to 1. Hardware Jumper: Install a jumper on the LCECCB board between XM1/1 and XM1/3. Note: This tells the CPU to ignore missing shaft signals and ADON discrepancies. Cycle Power: Reboot the controller to ensure the CPU and ADON board handshake in the new mode. Run on RDF: The car will now move without triggering a UIM/UCM fault while you pull the rope. Post-Roping Recalibration Because the ADON's pulse count will be completely out of sync with the physical floor table after movement: Remove Jumpers & Reset 1-99: Revert to 0 and pull the XM1 jumper. Clear Faults: You will likely see 0105 (Drive/ADON sync) or 0106 (Shaft info lost). Re-Learn: * Perform Menu 5 > 1 (ADON Setup) to re-index the encoder. Perform Menu 6 > 1 (Shaft Image Learn) to re-verify the floor positions.
Good luck!
